Buckwheat edits

Don't mix actor names or behind-the-scenes info into the character profiles when possible. Thor2000 15:56, June 21, 2010 (UTC)

While reading one of Walt Kelly's 1940's Our Gang comics, I learned that supposedly Buckwheat's real name (the character, not Billie Thomas) is Alexander. Granted this was Walt Kelly's doing and not one of the Our Gang film writers, but as it still relates to the series, could this name be added to the page? We can still keep Thomas as Buckwheat's last name, as it shows up in "Tale of a Dog", but I don't think William was ever mentioned. Mtw12055 01:04, December 27, 2011 (UTC)

  • In "School's Out," the kids say Bonedust is the source of the crazy history answers, but Miss Crabtree refers to him as "Robert." Thus "Robert" is clearly his real name and "Bonedust" his nickname. Since every adult, including teachers, never refer to Buckwheat by any other name, it is my opinion that "Buckwheat" is his real name. If you want to mention "Alexander" as a possible name, I think the only appropriate place for it would be in the notes at the bottom of the page with a statement that it is non-canon. A better place for this would be in the description of the appropriate issue of the comic book section, which seems to have been stalled after the second installment. Rjh 07:45, January 6, 2012 (UTC)
