The Spear family is a lower middle class family living in Greenpoint. The father works as a prize fighter, and as a result, his son, Wheezer goes round punching people in the nose and giving anyone he doesn't like the "raspberry." His other son, Harry, creates and runs a boxing arena in Boxing Gloves where he and Farina try to get Joe Cobb and Chubby Chaney to beat each other up in the ring. There are also boys named "Wheezer" in the Jackson Family and Smith Family; it is concievable that all these families are somehow related.
