Mr. Fries is a traveling salesman for the Eastern Novelty Company. He travels with two cases filled with toys, noisemakers and fireworks. After joining the train in an inebriated state with Mr. Henderson and the Rascals, he gives the boys some of his noise-makers then stands back and enjoys the disruption as they wake the sleeping passengers in the sleeper car. A loose monkey on the train also sets off his fireworks.
Mr. Fries was played by actor Otto Fries and partially voiced by Oliver Hardy. His character is not named in the short, but named by the actor, a nearly regular staple in the series.
