The Short

Plot: Alfalfa is getting tired of playing football, and decides to quit just as Spanky and the team are about to go up against Butch and his team called Butch's Assassins. In order to get him to play for Spanky, Darla tries to make him jealous by going by Alfalfa's house with Butch on her arm. This backfires as it only convinces Alfalfa to give her up as well. He sends a mushy love letter to Darla, but Alfalfa's mother lets him know that Darla's going to read the letter to everyone at the game. His reputation in danger, Alfalfa rushes to get the letter back where Darla, in cahoots with his mother, has placed the letter in the laces of the football. If he wants it back, he has to win the game. Alfalfa turns the game around in Spanky's favor to retrieve the note and win the game, but once he has the note back, he realizes it's not his note to Darla but a note from her to him!

  • This short seems to be a sequel to The Pigskin Palooka
  • Jack White who worked on the script is also a producer and director from The Three Stooges.
  • Butch's Assassins are winning 12-0 when Alfalfa enters the game. Alfalfa promptly sacks the Woim, and then for some reason Spanky's team has the ball on the next play, where Alfalfa rushes for a touchdown. Spanky kicks the extra point off-camera to make the score 12-7. After a few minutes of scoreless play, Alfalfa intercepts the Woim's pass intended for Butch and runs up and down the field, more interested in retrieving the note than in the game, until he finally runs the right way and out of the stadium. Rascals win 13-12.
