Old Wart-Head

Old Wart-Head is the name given to the cruel caretaker of the Happyland Home Orphanage by the orphans and Uncle Tom. Wart-Head constantly carries a bull whip and uses it frequently, threatening the gang when they are outside digging as well as inside the house to make them do chores. In retaliation for Tom's interference in giving the orphans food and doing their digging for them, Wart-Head gets the county to take Tom's nephew and nieces away. After Tom helps them escape, the case is heard by Judge Farrell, who fires Wart-Head and the two female co-workers and installs Tom as the new caretaker of the orphanage.
