Spanfield "Spanky" George Leonard is a Civil War orphan befriended by Captain Marshall Valient of the Confederate Army. Also called "Sonny," he's given a home at Valient's mansion where in his absence he looks after the place and forms his own kiddie army to defend the residence. His best friend is a lost slave he calls Buckwheat.
It's unconfirmed if Spanky is the ancestor of the 1930s Spanky McFarland.
General Spanky was played by George McFarland.
