History: Beverly Hudson was an American child actress who appeared in the Our Gang shorts and later appearances in TV and film. She had an uncredited part as Lady Liberty in Doin' Their Bit and later played Janet Burston's sister Aurelia Burston in Family Troubles. There are few details known about her life and career. Her later film appearances include "Born to Sing" (1942), "Henry Aldrich Swings It" (1943) and "True to Life" (1943). Judy Garland paid her a visit on the set of “Born to Sing,” noting that she was starting her career at the same age Garland had and wishing her the best of luck.
Beverly left acting in the early 1970s after several guest appearances on the television variety show, "Cavalcade of Stars." In 1959, she married film composer and editor Graham Lee Mahin, son of noted scriptwriter John Lee Mahin, however, they later divorced in 1965. They had one daughter, novelist Shanna Mahin, who wrote the novel “Oh! You Pretty Things,” a fictionalized account of her difficult childhood and contentious relationship with her former-child star mother.
Sadly, Hudson went through several difficult circumstances late in her life and was soon living in a van in Las Vegas. She passed away after injuries in a highway accident on May 10, 2000 when her vehicle hit a center divider.
Beverly has a page on the Lord Heath website dedicated to the Classic Comedy stars of the 20s and the 30s.
